The Program
The Rock Garden is a performance-oriented music program lasting up to six full weeks for student musicians ages 10 – 18. Our mission is to celebrate the joy of music in a unique setting that fosters team work, individual creativity, and a passion for performing! Our professional staff is dedicated to promoting musical excellence in a non- competitive, yet challenging environment. A minimum of one year experience on a musical instrument is desired. The Director will meet with applicants individually to assess skill level and discuss program goals.
Rock Concerts
Preparing for our concerts will be an important part of the program. The season will include regularly scheduled live performances, and will culminate with a special full-length concert at a public venue. In addition to our final rock concert, the student musicians prepare for a full length CD recording project at the end of the season.
Workshops and Activities
Rock Band rehearsals will be held in the morning and we offer periodic workshops in the afternoon in specific topics such as digital recording, song writing, and musicianship. Elective activities in the afternoons also include ultimate frisbee, soccer, basketball and occasionally hiking in The Wissahickon. Our Program is designed to meet the individual interests of our student musicians.
